Perkasa’s monitoring and integrity bureau chairman Azrul Akmal Saharudin said Hasan’s decision to omit two sentences from the report gave the impression he was insincere and dishonest as the chairman of the PAC.
“We view the matter seriously and we question his integrity as PAC chairman. Such behaviour does not also bode well with his role as a member of parliament,” Azrul said in a statement yesterday.
He argued that Hasan’s justification that the information was left out as the matter was still under probe did not make sense as both sentences had been agreed upon earlier with all PAC members to be included in the report. Therefore, Hasan should have consulted with all PAC members prior to removing the information, Azrul added.
He also asked the Government to set-up a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to probe the 1MDB controversy as soon as possible.
“Only with an RCI, can 1MDB be probed without interference and the report, be regarded as reliable and transparent.
“It would also help clear the name of Prime Minister Najib Razak, in the event the RCI finds he was not involved in the scandal.”
