“We love Sarawak and we are willing to offer an alternative choice for the people,” Nga said in a statement today on Facebook, after he was denied entry into the state on arrival at Sibu airport this morning with 10 members of Perak DAP.
He was the only one turned away. Over the past week other politicians of Pakatan Harapan have similarly been denied entry as they tried to travel to Sarawak to campaign for their parties in the state elections.
Nga accused Adenan of misusing the Immigration Act. He said denying politicians their rights to carry out their political duties was against the spirit of democracy.
“Barisan Nasional MPs and leaders are allowed to help campaign in Sarawak but the Opposition can’t,” Nga added. He urged the people in Sarawak to vote out Barisan Nasional to stop the party from abusing power.
Candidates will file their nomination papers on Monday. Polling will take place on May 7.
