In a report by the New Straits Times, department Director-General Kamarudin Md Isa said the case has been classified as a congenital anomaly.
Such deformities, said Kamarudin, had happened before even among humans.
“”This is a rare occurrence, less than 1%, but it can still happen.
“The kid was stillborn based on tests we did on its lung,” he told reporters today.
The possible reasons for the deformity include a lack of nutrients during the foetus’s development stage or an infection.
News about the would-be “goatman” went viral over the Internet recently, after the kid’s birth last month at Felda Sungai Mas in Johor.
Its face, nose, short legs and soft body had given it the impression of a human baby.
There was speculation that it was the result of someone mating with a goat but scientists had stated that this would not result in any mutants with human genes being born.
