KUALA TERENGGANU:
Pertubuhan Berita Nasional Malaysia (Bernama) has denied releasing any news claiming that Prime Minister Najib Razak has postponed his visit to Terengganu.

Bernama Terengganu Bureau Chief Zalina Maizan Ngah said such news was false, baseless and slanderous.

“This is the fourth time Bernama’s name has been implicated as the source of false news spread through WhatsApp.

“I was just informed about the false news by Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Razif Abdul Rahman. I hope the people will not be fooled by such false news,” she said here yesterday.

The false news being circulated claimed that the prime minister’s visit that is scheduled for May 23 had been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances.

Zalina said no journalist from the Bernama bureau in Terengganu had written such news while the matter would be referred to the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC).

On March 11, Zalina had lodged a police report related to an article titled “Rosli Sedia Jadi Penggerak Puteri UMNO Terengganu” and on April 20, another police report was lodged after an article “Pas Terengganu Siap Sedia Hadapi Pilihan Raya Negeri” was spread.

On May 4, yet another report was lodged involving an article “Umno Terengganu Berdepan Laluan Sukar Hadapi Pilihan Raya-Veteran”.
