Jobless man jailed for kicking woman from behind

KUALA LUMPUR: An unemployed man was sentenced to jail by the Magistrate’s Court for kicking a pedestrian at the Kuala Lumpur KTM station’s carpark.

Magistrate Ahmad Solihin Abd Wahab meted out a three month jail sentence to Marmi Zabrin Mian, after he pleaded guilty to the charge, under Section 323 of the Penal Code for kicking Shakira Mohd Khalid, a secretary, from behind.

He committed the offence on Monday evening at the walkway tunnel between Jalan Cendesari and Dayabumi here.

Marmi, who was arrested on September 13, would serve his sentence from that date.

Marmi was unrepresented.

Ahmad Zikri Jaafar appeared for the prosecution.

According to the facts of the case, Shakira was attacked by Marmi from behind, causing her to fall down.

He fled the scene after kicking her.

Shakira sustained injuries on the palms.

Marmi was earlier sentenced to nine months in prison in 2014 for throwing rocks at the home of Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Jamil Khir Baharom, and breaking the windows.
