
The news website, quoted “a businessman who is close to Marshall” as saying that Marshall “is leaving AK, and not in the best of ways”.
It quoted several sources as saying that Marshall had left all his posts at the end of September, and that his departure had been rumoured in the past month. “It is a terribly acrimonious break,” said an executive who has worked with Marshall.
Last month, India’s Central Bureau of Investigations obtained arrest warrants against Ananda Krishnan and Marshall over allegations of corruption involving the purchase of an Indian telecommunications company.
Joint ventures by Maxis, one of Ananda Krishnan’s companies, and satellite television company Astro has come under investigation in India and Indonesia in the past few years.
Marshall was deputy chairman of Astro and had resigned from the Maxis board in July last year.
Earlier this year Swiss prosecutors investigating investments by 1Malaysia Development Bhd had asked for information about Tanjong PLC, where Marshall was chief executive officer.
Marshall was also an executive director of Ananda Krishnan’s private vehicle Usaha Tegas Sdn Bhd.
Ananda Krishnan was listed by Forbes magazine in March as Malaysia’s second-wealthiest person with a fortune estimated at US$7.3 billion.
