
DOSH Deputy Director-General Omar Mat Piah said DOSH would investigate the incident in Jalan 1/65A, off Jalan Tun Razak, under Section 17 of the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994, which establishes the general duties of an employer to persons other than the employees.
“If it is found that the risk controls are not effective, a notice will be issued whether a stoppage or improvement notice, depending on the seriousness of the case,” he told Bernama when contacted here today.
Omar said the victims could also demand compensation from the main contractors.
In the incident about 3.30pm today, a Bernama staff member was almost killed when a two-metre long metal water pipe fell from a crane in the condominium project area, besides Wisma Bernama, onto his vehicle.
The incident took place when he was driving past the Bernama guardhouse to attend a meeting outside.
