PETALING JAYA: Police say a police officer and a woman, believed to be his girlfriend, were found dead in a flat in Taman Cantik, Cheras, today.

The woman is believed to be a Vietnamese in her 20s while the 25-year-old police officer is attached to Bukit Aman’s special integrated investigation team, reported Berita Harian Online.

The incident came to light when the cop’s brother had trouble reaching him and alerted the police, who found the couple inside a rented room on the first floor of a block of flats.

According to media reports, the two had gunshot wounds and the woman was holding a gun issued by the government to the police force.

The Malay news portal quoted KL police chief Amar Singh Ishar Singh as saying that the case is believed to be a murder-cum suicide and police were investigating the motive for the incident as well as who shot whom first.

“We are also trying to establish the connection between the woman and the man,” he said.

Amar Singh said the case was being investigated for murder as well as sudden death.
