Without divulging further details, Kedah Football Association (KFA) president Ahmad Bashah Md Hanipah said he welcomed the action taken by the commission to facilitate investigation into the allegation.
“I was informed that the MACC summoned several players but I am not aware of what they were questioned for…I consider it a normal thing and they (MACC) have the right to call them for an investigation.
“We in KFA did not make the allegations, the netizens did but I don’t have the information on how many individuals were called up,” he told reporters after the Kedah MB Chillex event with social media partners and social media followers at the menteri besar’s residence in Seri Mentaloon here today.
Previously, claims that seven players of the Kedah squad had been bribed RM200,000 each during the game, went viral on social media.
Kedah Menteri Besar Ahmad Bashah said he hoped the issue could be resolved as soon as possible to safeguard the image of the association and rectify any negative perception among football fans and supporters in the state.
He also urged any player with evidence of the alleged bribery to lodge a report with the MACC.
