Both incidents are believed to have been committed by the same suspects.
Kelantan police chief Hasanuddin Hassan said the first incident happened at a Methodist church. A caretaker at the premises heard an explosion on the upper floor of the building.
“The caretaker went to the second floor of the church and found a mirror was broken. There was also a water filter container with burnt marks,” he said when met at the Kelantan police contingent headquarters here today.
Hasanuddin said preliminary investigations found that the container had been hurled from a moving Nissan Livina car on the elevated road to Pasir Pekan.
The second incident, at the Subramaniyar Temple, located besides the church, was believed to have happened soon after, he said.
He said police also found a water filter container in the temple, which was believed to have been thrown into the building from the same vehicle.
He said police were investigating the case under Section 295 of the Penal Code and urged those with information to contact the Kota Bharu police or the nearest police station.
Earlier, Hasanuddinn had received a courtesy call from members of the Kelantan Council of Justices of the Peace (JP), led by its acting president Zukri Samat.
