KUALA LUMPUR: With the Registrar of Societies (RoS) finally recognising DAP’s central executive committee (CEC), and PPBM having held its annual general meeting in December, there should be no more excuse not to approve Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) registration, says a DAP leader.

Gobind Singh Deo, who is also PH’s legal bureau chief, said the RoS had previously stated that the coalition’s registration could not be approved due to these two hurdles.

He said RoS has informed DAP that its CEC line-up was now recognised, after the party was instructed to hold two re-elections due to allegations of improprieties.

Gobind said the RoS must now approve PH’s application or be prepared for legal action.

“We want to know why there is no response from them. We are facing a general election,” he said.

PH was announced last year, comprising PKR, DAP, Amanah and PPBM. The parties are planning to contest the next general election under a common banner.

Last month, the coalition named Dr Mahathir Mohamad as its candidate for prime minister.

Gobind said PH would seek an answer from RoS tomorrow.

“RoS should be more professional and reply the letters we had sent them. If it’s not done within the time frame, we have no choice but to consider legal action against RoS to compel them to answer us,” he told reporters at the DAP headquarters here.
