
He said of the amount, RM10 million would be allocated to the Sungai Petani parliamentary constituency for the construction of a 2,000-capacity hall and sports complex.
He said the Pantai Merdeka, Bakar Arang and Sidam state constituencies would be given RM5 million each.
“I feel sorry for the Sungai Petani voters for having to endure the heat under this tent. With an air-conditioned hall, we won’t have to suffer like this.
“If Shahanim (Mohamad Yusoff) wins the Sungai Petani parliamentary seat, the government will definitely implement these two things, while the three state constituencies will enjoy other facilities,” he said at a programme with the people here last night.
Zahid said he would assist Shahanim in realising her manifesto should BN succeed in recapturing the Sungai Petani parliamentary seat from the opposition.
This included ensuring zero dilapidated homes in Sungai Petani, establishing a rural industry and women entrepreneur transformation centre, a special disaster fund, and a boarding school.
“All these can definitely be implemented in the next five years because our government is not bankrupt as our finances are well-managed,” he said.
Zahid added that BN needed a victory in Sungai Petani in order to win a bigger majority and strengthen the BN government in Putrajaya.
He said this was to ensure that the government could implement more development programmes in Kedah and nationwide.
