A poster of the reward offer has been heavily featured by the Dutch media since yesterday.
In an email to FMT, a family spokesperson said the reward would be divided equally if more than one person stepped up with credible information.
“We would like to stress that the reward will be given for information that is instrumental in the arrest and conviction of a person or persons responsible for the death of Ivana.
“The reward will stand until a conviction is evident,” the spokesperson said.
Ivana’s body was found on the balcony of a sixth-floor apartment on Persiaran Capsquare, off Jalan Dang Wangi in Kuala Lumpur on Dec 7 last year.
The 19-year-old was earlier said to have been in the 20th-floor apartment of an American man and his Kazakh wife. Police initially assumed that she had fallen from there.
Police classified the case as sudden death pending the results of the post-mortem and pathology tests. However, the results have not been revealed to Ivana’s family, with their lawyer saying Malaysian police gave only a skimpy briefing to the Dutch authorities, not the exact findings.
Ivana’s body was kept at a hospital morgue in Kuala Lumpur for 21 days before being repatriated to the Netherlands. She was cremated in her birth town of Roermond on Dec 30 in a grand send-off which received wide media coverage.
The pathologist who conducted a second post-mortem said he had found bruises on her arms that might have been inflicted before her fall.
Dr Frank van der Goot added that a struggle had probably taken place before Ivana plunged to her death.
