PETALING JAYA: Donations from Umno members for a fund to raise the RM1 million bail for Najib Razak continued to pour in, with the latest coming from a group of women who visited the former prime minister at his house today.

Among the group was Nurulhidayah Ahmad Zahid, the daughter of Najib’s former deputy Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

A brief video posted by Nurulhidayah on her Instagram showed the former leader appearing emotional as he thanked the visiting Umno members for their donation.

Saying he was touched by their efforts, he fought his tears, and placed his hand close to his chest. Also present was his wife, Rosmah Mansor.

Nurulhidayah said she had once supported Anwar Ibrahim in the name of “humanity and justice” when he was sacked from the Cabinet in 1998.

“Today, on grounds of humanity, I came to Najib’s home to give our contributions. I hope it helps to ease the burden his family is facing.”

Nurulhidayah reminded the public that Najib had “tried his best to serve all of us” when he was the prime minister.

“Let him be judged fairly,” she added.

The bail fund was started by Wanita Umno chief Noraini Ahmad, and collected over RM200,000 within two days of its launch.

The High Court allowed Najib to pay the first half of RM500,000, and the balance by 3pm tomorrow. Najib has claimed trial to all four charges.
