
His press secretary, Hafiz Abdul Halim, said that Muhyiddin will first return to the Dewan Rakyat and take his oath as the Pagoh MP and later attend meetings for the day.
“He was advised by doctors to undergo chemotherapy treatment for six months to ensure his tumour does not grow.
“The home minister’s office would like to inform that his official work scope is limited throughout his treatment period so that he can focus on the recovery,” Hafiz said.
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad said last night that Muhyiddin could be undergoing chemotherapy, a treatment for cancer patients.
He hinted Muhyiddin’s treatment period “may be long”.
Muhyiddin has been warded at a Singapore hospital, where he underwent an operation to remove a growth in his pancreas.
He has taken leave since July 12 to undergo follow-up treatment.
Mahathir has been the acting home minister since Muhyiddin went on medical leave.
