Selangor CID chief Fadzil Ahmat confirmed that a court order was granted to police today to hold the boys for investigation into Nazrin’s death. The remand will end on Sept 15.
He also said the remand order on the boys’ mother, and Nazrin’s widow, Samirah Muzaffar would end tomorrow.
However, Fadzil did not say if police would seek to extend the remand against her.
The siblings, aged between 14 and 16, were detained in Taman Tun Dr Ismail yesterday.
Earlier last week, police denied a news report that the siblings were arrested.
Malay Mail Online had previously reported that the two stepsons were detained after puncture marks were discovered in Nazrin’s neck which were consistent with those made by an arrow.
Samirah was arrested last week and remanded for seven days to facilitate the investigation. Samirah’s former husband was also arrested but later released.
This came nearly a month after authorities confirmed that Nazrin’s death had been classified as murder. It was initially reported that he had died in a fire at his home here.
At the time, Cradle Fund confirmed that the post-mortem report concluded he had died of complications from injuries when a mobile phone that was being charged exploded.
