KUALA LUMPUR:
Sungai Besar Umno division chief Jamal Yunos was slapped with another charge at the Ampang Magistrate’s Court today for allegedly leaving Malaysia through illegal channels four months ago.

He was accused of breaching Section 5 (1) of the Immigration Act by leaving Malaysia through improper channels without reasonable grounds on May 25.

He claimed trial before magistrate Mohamad Firdaus Sadina Ali.

The court fixed bail at RM4,000 with one surety and set Sept 24 for mention. Jamal was represented by lawyer Imran Tamrin while deputy public prosecutor Goh Ai Rene prosecuted.

The immigration charge against Jamal follows his charge under Section 224 of the Penal Code for escaping from police custody at a private hospital on May 25 while completing his bail for several criminal cases.

He was initially denied bail by the magistrate for all his criminal cases, but the High Court reversed the decision on July 31.

Jamal posted RM20,000 bail for two charges of trespassing and one of escaping from custody.

He was detained by the police on July 5 after being escorted back from Indonesia.
