I’ll find Jho Low myself, Hisham offers

The former defence minister says he is willing to go to China to find the fugitive businessman and bring him to face the courts.

KUALA LUMPUR: Former defence minister Hishammuddin Hussein has offered to locate controversial businessman Low Taek Jho, better known as Jho Low, in a bid to facilitate 1MDB investigations.

Speaking to reporters at the Parliament lobby today, he said he would do so in his personal capacity without being asked by Putrajaya.

“I will personally go to China and bring Jho Low back to face justice, because if he is still outside the country the 1MDB case may not be completed.

“If there are rumours that I am headed to China, it is not on Putrajaya’s request. In the past, I had ties with the Chinese leadership. If it’s true that Jho Low is in China, I will make sure he is returned and brought to the courts.”

The Semborong MP said this when asked to comment on speculation that Putrajaya had called on him to repair Malaysia-China relations.

On July 5, Jho Low reportedly ran off to Macau, but a week later police said authorities there informed them that he had fled Macau for an unknown location.

Hishammuddin said he was willing to go to the ends of the earth to help the authorities find Jho Low.

“There are rumours that he is in China. To confirm whether he is there, I need to speak to the Chinese leaders, and if they refuse to hand him over, I want to know why.”
