‘Butt protester’ Ali not yet a member, says PPBM

The party says Mohd Ali Baharom had only submitted his membership form.

PPBM says Ali Baharom’s application to join PPBM has yet to be approved.
PETALING JAYA:
PPBM has denied that Mohd Ali Baharom, who gained notoriety over his “butt protest” stunt six years ago outside the home of then Bersih chairperson Ambiga Sreenevasan, has joined the party.

“He has only submitted an application to join the party,” a source in PPBM told FMT, adding that the party had yet to approve his membership.

This comes after Ali, better known as Ali Tinju, said he was now a changed man and had lost trust in the Umno leadership.

“I joined PPBM on my own accord. In Umno, I was not in a leadership position. So, we were just taking orders from the leaders,” he had said.

Ali also said he was now a changed man, saying it was in keeping with the conditions laid down by Mahathir for ex-Umno members to join PPBM.

“I am aware of Dr Mahathir’s reminder that if you want to join PPBM, you must change,” he added.
