Ex-minister at MACC again over Sarawak solar project

He was questioned for more than eight hours on the matter by anti-graft officials yesterday.

PUTRAJAYA: A member of the previous government Cabinet was called up by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) again today to record his statement on the implementation of the solar energy project for rural schools in Sarawak.

According to MACC, the former minister who is an MP from a northern state arrived at the MACC headquarters at about 9.15am.

Yesterday, he was at the MACC headquarters for more than eight hours to give his statement on the matter.

On Nov 15, Rosmah Mansor, the wife of former prime minister Najib Razak, and his special officer, Rizal Mansor, were charged with soliciting and receiving bribes over the solar hybrid system project for rural schools in Sarawak.

Rosmah, who pleaded not guilty in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court to two counts of soliciting and receiving RM1.5 million in bribes for the supply and installation of the solar hybrid system, was allowed bail of RM1 million in one surety.

Rizal, who faces four charges of soliciting and receiving bribes for himself and Rosmah, was allowed bail of RM1 million in two sureties.
