Waytha Moorthy said this in explaining why his asset declaration column was left blank in the list of ministers who had submitted their declared assets.
“Social media has been abuzz over the last 24-hours about the two cars that I own. I wish to clarify that my asset declaration to the MACC was submitted on October 10, 2018.
“I had included my two cars as part of the declaration,” he said in a statement.
Waytha Moorthy said his office had sought an explanation from MACC as to why this was not reflected in the asset declaration list but was informed that MACC did not regard the cars as assets.
Previously, Waytha Moorthy said he had nothing to declare to the MACC other than his salary, and that all his money had been spent on himself or “fighting for the rights of the Indians” throughout his years as an activist.
However, questions were raised on social media after pictures of Waytha Moorthy’s vehicles were uploaded online.
