Felda gets special RM77 mil allocation

Of the amount, RM33 million will be for living assistance and upfront payment for crop yield which will benefit 38,000 settlers.

The special allocation for Felda is due to its critical cash flow problem.
PUTRAJAYA:
The finance ministry will be providing a special allocation of RM77 million to the Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) settlers.

In a statement today, Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng, said he viewed the critical state of Felda’s cash flow this year seriously.

“Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad has instructed that help be given.”

Lim said a sum of RM1.2 million will go to the heirs of 120 deceased settlers as funeral benefits; RM43 million will be used to settle a Felda Technoplant Sdn Bhd debt; and RM32.8 million will be given for living assistance and upfront payment for crop yield, benefitting 38,000 Felda settlers.

The 2018 allocation of RM77 million will be administered by the economic affairs ministry, which oversees Felda.
