PETALING JAYA: Selangor assemblyman for Semenyih, Bakhtiar Mohd Nor, died early today after suffering a heart attack at the Kajang Hospital. He was 57.
The Selangor menteri besar’s political secretary, Borhan Aman Shah, confirmed Bakhtiar’s death at 4.45am.
Bakhtiar, who was Hulu Langat PPBM chief, will be buried at the Kampung Pasir burial grounds after Friday prayers at Masjid Kampung Pasir in Semenyih.
Funeral prayers will be held at his family home at 19th mile, Jalan Sungai Lalang, Semenyih.
Bakhtiar won the state seat in the last general election with a majority of 8,964 votes, defeating Barisan Nasional, PAS and PSM.
PPBM secretary-general Marzuki Yahya said Bakhtiar was a hardworking assemblyman who will be sorely missed by the party leadership.
“PPBM sends our deepest condolences to the family of the late Bakhtiar and to the voters of Semenyih,” he said.
