I have bank records to prove Hadi paid RM1.4 mil to Rewcastle-Brown, says Anwar

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim (left) says PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang paid the British journalist to settle the suit.

SEMENYIH: Anwar Ibrahim tonight said he has bank records to show that PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang paid RM1.4 million to Sarawak Report editor Clare Rewcastle-Brown in their out-of-court settlement.

He did not name the bank but said Hadi was welcome to sue him.

“If Hadi wants to challenge me, he can do so in court. I have evidence,” the PKR president said at Semenyih Sentral when campaigning for Pakatan Harapan candidate Aiman Zainali.

Anwar said PAS had not won in the matter as Rewcastle-Brown never retracted her article claiming that Umno had paid party leaders RM90 million.

Anwar had said earlier in the day that he would reveal more details of the alleged payment in Semenyih tonight.

PAS secretary-general Takiyuddin Hassan had said yesterday that PAS need not pay any fee as it was not even a party to the suit.
