PETALING JAYA: Four policemen, including an officer, were attacked by a group of African men when carrying out an operation at the Flora Damansara condominium complex here on Thursday.
The men, from the commercial crime investigation unit from the district police headquarters here, were attacked when they tried to detain a Nigerian suspected to be involved in an “African scam”.
In the 11pm incident, one of the policemen was injured in the mouth.
Selangor CID chief Fadzil Ahmat confirmed the incident and said police had remanded 10 Africans for four days until Monday for further investigations.
He said police went to the condo unit to arrest a Nigerian under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property.
“There was provocation between the policemen and a group of Africans.
“As a result, the policeman was injured when attacked.
“Reinforcements were sent from the police headquarters and resulted in the 10 men being picked up.”
Fadzil warned that police will act against any foreigners who try to stop government officers from carrying out their tasks.
