Jaziri, 41, from Miri, will replace Redzuan Yusof as the party coordinator for Sarawak.

The announcement was made during a dialogue between Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and PPBM leaders here today.

The decision to appoint Jaziri, an architect by profession, was made during a party council meeting on Aug 29 attended by six PPBM divisions in Sarawak – Samarahan, Stampin, Sri Aman, Saratok, Bintulu and Santubong.

The party aims to establish one division in each of the 31 state constituencies.

Earlier, in his speech, Mahathir, the PPBM chairman, said it was not impossible for the party to topple the ruling government in Sarawak if its members and Pakatan Harapan remained united.

“The current Sarawak government used to be part of the previous administration and they would definitely defend their position. But if we remain united, then there is a possibility that we could topple the ruling government,” he said.

He said it was important for PPBM to collaborate with the other PH coalition parties to win over the state, adding that it was not the time for them to split.

“We must unite with them (PH partners) regardless of whether we like their decisions or not. We can’t win if we want to have everything to ourselves,” he said.
