PTPTN yet to receive writ of summons over suit filed by 5

Education minister Maszlee Malik says the government will come out with an official statement on the lawsuit when the time comes.

Five people are suing the government and PTPTN for allegedly failing to fulfil promises made prior to the 14th general election.
GOMBAK:
Education Minister Maszlee Malik said PTPTN is yet to receive a writ over the lawsuit filed by five individuals yesterday.

“I have contacted PTPTN but they have not received any writ yet.

“Once they receive it, they will act and come out with an official statement,” Maszlee said after officiating the International Islamic University Malaysia’s student union at its Gombak campus today.

Five individuals have initiated legal action against the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), PH and the government for allegedly failing to fulfil promises made prior to the 14th general election.

The plaintiffs filed a writ of summons through law firm Messrs Adnan Sharida & Associates, via the e-filing system at the Kuala Lumpur High Court Registry on Monday.

The five contended that the three defendants were contractually bound to deliver promises made in the manifesto having secured victory in GE14, especially in the pledge to defer repayments of PTPTN loans for borrowers earning less than RM4,000 a month.

The five named PTPTN as the first defendant, PH as the second defendant and the government as the third defendant.
