PUTRAJAYA: Residents in Kimanis will go to the polls on Jan 18, 2020, in what will be the 10th by-election since the historic general election on May 9 last year.
Election Commission chairman Azhar Harun, who announced this at a press conference here today, also said nomination will be held on Jan 4, giving contesting parties two weeks to campaign.
Early voting will take place on Jan 14.
The Kimanis seat in Sabah fell vacant after the Federal Court upheld a decision by the election court to nullify the 2018 results.
The parliamentary constituency was won by Barisan Nasional through former foreign minister Anifah Aman, who defeated Warisan’s Karim Bujang with a 156-vote majority.
Anifah later resigned from Umno to become an independent.
