Health DG denies urging public to avoid Pantai Hospital area over Covid-19 scare

There was no such advice, says Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

KUALA LUMPUR:
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah has denied a Bernama report in which he was quoted as telling the public to avoid the Pantai and Bangsar areas for 10 days due to Covid-19.

He said the report was inaccurate.

In the report, Hisham praised the quick action taken by Pantai Hospital Kuala Lumpur cardiologist Dr Sanjiv Joshi who voluntarily decided to isolate himself for 14 days.

The report sparked concern among residents in the vicinity and those who wanted to go to the hospital and nearby areas.

Bernama has since corrected the report.

“Bernama regrets having released the inaccurate news report,” said the national news agency.
