PUTRAJAYA: Public buses will only be allowed to operate in two shifts during the movement control order (MCO) period – 6am to 10am and 5pm to 10pm during work days, the government announced today.
Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this was due to the problem of implementing social distancing, a key measure in the fight against the spread of Covid-19, among bus passengers.
Ismail said taxis and e-hailing vehicles are exempted from the new rule.
“Drivers must always wear masks when they are on duty and maintain a one-metre distance between them and passengers,” he added.
Ismail said Putrajaya will be instructing fuel pump operators to prepare hand sanitisers for motorists.
“We decided to make it compulsory on operators to have hand sanitisers for motorists, to be used before and after they lift the nozzles,” he said.
