
In a tweet, Syed Saddiq said he had been called in by Bukit Aman to give his statement on the matter.
“I was informed that it is under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act.”
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department deputy director (prosecution and legal division) Mior Faridalathrash Wahid confirmed the investigation, saying Syed Saddiq would be coming to the federal police headquarters at 2.30pm.
In his March 6 interview with Al Jazeera’s Mehdi Hassan, Syed Saddiq, the former PPBM Youth chief, spoke of his disappointment with Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin for betraying the party’s founding principles by working with “kleptocrats”.
The former youth and sports minister said Muhyiddin had “opened the door” of the government to kleptocrats.
