MTUC wants action against man videoed assaulting security guard
In a video of the assault that has gone viral, the man is seen hitting the guard with a baton and scolding him.
PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) today called for action to be taken against a man who was videoed assaulting a Nepali security guard.
The one-minute clip which has gone viral shows the man repeatedly slapping, punching and hitting the guard with a baton while scolding him in Malay.
“What’s your problem?” he is heard saying to the guard who does not retaliate. “Are you messing around? You come here to look for work, not problems.”
According to the video time stamp, it was recorded on July 7.
MTUC secretary-general J Solomon told FMT such abuse was unacceptable.
“It is slavery,” he added. “The police must track him down and arrest him.”
He also urged the authorities to act immediately even if a police report has yet to be lodged.
FMT has reached out to the authorities for comment.
Meanwhile, the Nepal embassy said it was aware of the video and had lodged a police report on the incident.
