Only 1 new Covid-19 case, 16 recoveries
The health ministry says no new deaths were reported in the last 24 hours.
PETALING JAYA: Only one new Covid-19 case was reported in the last 24 hours against 16 recoveries, the health ministry revealed.
The total number of positive cases to date is 9,002.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the latest infection is a local transmission involving a Malaysian in Perlis.
The last time the nation recorded a single case was on July 1.
The total number of recoveries stand at 8,684, with 193 still active.
No new deaths were recorded, with the toll remaining at 125.
Noor Hisham also denied that the ministry had ordered parents and students who went for a vacation in Kubang Pasu, Kedah, to undergo Covid-19 screening at the nearest health clinic.
“The ministry has never issued any official directive. This is fake news,” he said in a statement.
He stressed that those who needed to undergo screening were individuals who had close contact with Covid-19 patients, or those residing in areas under the targeted enhanced movement control order, or those linked to the PUI Sivagangga cluster.
