PUTRAJAYA: The health ministry this evening confirmed seven new Covid-19 cases and 26 recoveries, as the number of patients discharged outpaced new infections.
This pushes the total number of Covid-19 cases to 9,219, with 192 active cases still receiving treatment.
The total number of recoveries now stands at 8,902 or 96.6%.
Of the seven new infections, four are imported cases involving two Malaysians and two foreigners.
The three local transmissions involve two individuals from the Sala cluster and one from the Tawar cluster.
Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said eight patients were in the intensive care unit (ICU), with two in need of respiratory assistance.
No new casualties were reported and the death toll remains at 125.
Noor Hisham also said the latest infections from the Tawar and Sala clusters brought the total number of patients in these clusters to 47 and eight respectively.
A total of 2,125 individuals from these two clusters, he said, had been screened.
“Active case detection and screening of close contacts for these two clusters is ongoing,” he said at a press conference.
He also said the school linked to the Tawar cluster had been closed and sanitised.
The ministry has also screened and tested the students.
“We have taken the necessary action, and we hope we can contain the infection in the area in a week or two.”
