PETALING JAYA:
A teacher from SMK Taman Sea here has tested positive for Covid-19. Following this, students and staff members at the school were ordered to self-quarantine immediately.

A member of the teaching staff at the school told FMT that the teacher in question had reportedly tested positive for the virus while in Kelantan.

“The teacher had already been under home quarantine in Kelantan after coming into contact with an infected individual, but the principal has now ordered students and teachers alike to take the necessary precautions,” he said.

He added that the infected individual, who is a close contact of the teacher, had been infected by an individual who had returned from Sabah.

“We are waiting for further instructions from the education ministry,” he said.

Yesterday, Malaysia reported a record high of 691 Covid-19 cases with the majority of them from Sabah and Kedah.

FMT is awaiting response from the health ministry on the matter.
