Agong arrives at Istana Negara for rulers’ meeting on PM’s proposals

The Agong and the Malay rulers are expected to meet later this afternoon.

The Malay rulers will hold the meeting at Istana Negara.
PETALING JAYA:
Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah has arrived at Istana Negara ahead of a meeting with the Malay rulers on proposals mooted by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

The meeting comes amid speculation that an Emergency could be declared or that Parliament could be prorogued.

Previously, Istana Negara said the royal meeting on the prime minister’s proposals will take place at Istana Negara but did not go into the details of the proposals.

“(The rulers) will discuss and refine the proposals presented by Tan Sri Muhyiddin,” said Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin yesterday.

Fadil had said Muhyiddin presented his proposals to the King during an audience at Istana Abdul Aziz in Kuantan, Pahang, on Friday following a special Cabinet meeting.

The audience lasted around one and a half hours.

Fadil also said Sultan Abdullah has advised the people to remain calm while waiting for his decision on the proposals.
