2 new Covid-19 clusters detected in Sabah, Labuan

The clusters are known as Lintas and Limbungan.

The health ministry has reported two new Covid-19 clusters in the past 24 hours.

Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said they were the Lintas cluster in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah and Limbungan cluster in Labuan.

Six cases were detected in the Lintas cluster after screenings at a workplace yesterday. A total of 21 people have been tested in the cluster, with the other 15 tests returning negative.

The Limbungan cluster’s index case was an individual who tested positive on Oct 15 after contact tracing. Further contact tracing detected 19 more positive cases today, all of whom are currently being treated at the Labuan Hospital.

The Limbungan cluster screenings involved 383 individuals, with 20 people testing positive, 44 negative and 319 awaiting results.

There are currently 37 active clusters in Malaysia, with the Kaya cluster, which affects Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Melaka and Putrajaya, recording the most number of new cases today with 152. The cluster has a total of 274 cases.

The Saguking cluster in Labuan recorded 55 new cases today while the Melati cluster, which affects Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Pahang and Perak, recorded 36 new cases. These two clusters have a total of 162 and 62 cases, respectively.

Noor Hisham said that of the 138 new cases in the Klang Valley today, 65 cases (47.1%) were from new and existing clusters.

The number of cases related to prison clusters dropped by 95.5% today, with 23 cases recorded compared with 508 cases yesterday.
