12 new Covid-19 clusters detected in 6 states, 2 FTs

Three clusters were detected in Johor alone.

A total of 161 people from the Damai construction site cluster, which is active in Cheras, have been screened with 130 testing positive.
PUTRAJAYA:
The health ministry reported 12 new Covid-19 clusters today affecting Selangor, Johor, Sabah, Kuala Lumpur, Kelantan, Perak, Melaka and Putrajaya.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the clusters are the Jalan Telok Gong and Lingkaran Lintang cluster in Klang, Selangor; the Persiaran Selatan, Kampung Perani and Jalan Kluang cluster in Johor; the Ladang Baturong and Ladang Matamba cluster in Sabah; the Damai construction site in Kuala Lumpur, the Pokok Hidayah cluster in Kelantan; the Kota Road cluster in Perak; the Tembok Kemus cluster in Melaka and the Restoran Putra cluster in Putrajaya.

The Jalan Telok Gong cluster was detected at a factory in Selangor yesterday after workplace screenings. A total of 191 people have been screened with 108 testing positive.

The Lingkaran Lintang cluster was also detected in Klang on Jan 3 after workplace screenings at a factory. Some 205 individuals have been screened with 25 of them found positive.

Meanwhile in Johor, the Persiaran Selatan cluster involves the Johor Bahru district, with the index case testing positive on Jan 15 after a screening at a construction site in Persiaran Southkey. A total of 209 people have been screened with 61 found positive.

The Jalan Kluang construction site cluster was detected in the Batu Pahat district, with the index case testing positive on Jan 11 after exhibiting symptoms. Some 42 individuals have been screened with 18 testing positive.

The Kampung Perani cluster involves the Kota Tinggi district, with the index case testing positive on Dec 30 after exhibiting symptoms. The cluster is linked to a mosque in the area. A total of 81 people have been screened with 18 found positive.

In Sabah, the Ladang Baturong cluster is active in the Kunak district. The index case tested positive on Jan 9 after a workplace screening. A total of 1,625 people have been screened with 54 found positive.

The Ladang Matamba cluster involves the Lahad Datu district, with the index case testing positive on Jan 6 after a screening at a farm. A total of 89 people have been screened with 20 found positive.

In Kuala Lumpur, the Damai construction site cluster is active in Cheras and was detected today after screenings at a construction site. A total of 161 people have been screened with 130 found positive.

In Kelantan, the Pokok Hidayah cluster in Machang was detected after an individual displayed Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI) symptoms and was reported positive on Jan 11. A total of 100 people have been screened with 15 found positive.

Meanwhile in Perak, the Kota Road cluster is active in the Kinta district as well as the Larut, Matang and Selama district. The cluster is linked to a bank in Jalan Kota in Taiping. The index case tested positive on Jan 9 after exhibiting symptoms. A total of 54 people have been screened with 18 found positive.

In Melaka, the Tembok Kemus cluster in the Alor Gajah district was detected yesterday after screenings at the A Famosa Detention Transit Centre. A total of 151 people have been screened with 22 positive.

The Restoran Putra cluster in Putrajaya was detected after an individual displayed SARI symptoms and was reported positive on Jan 4. A total of 29 people have been screened with 19 positive.

There are now 284 active clusters out of a cumulative 635.

Four clusters officially ended today – Bah Medan, Jalan Dalam, Nibong and Dermaga.
