In a statement, Comptroller of the Royal Household Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said the King also expressed regret that citizens were not disciplined in adapting to the new norms to contain the outbreak.
The King also called for Malaysians to show their support and solidarity for the frontliners by adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOPs).
“Sultan Abdullah has expressed confidence the nation will be able to flatten the curve and lessen the burden of frontliners if the people work together,” the statement read.
The King was also concerned that more patients needed to be treated in the intensive care unit, especially in the Klang Valley, following the recent surge in cases.
This, he said, could result in those who were critically ill being placed in other government hospitals, which in turn would impact the treatment of non-Covid-19 patients.
The King also thanked frontliners for their sacrifices in containing the pandemic and treating Covid-19 patients. He hopes they will persevere and remain strong in managing the third wave of the virus especially after the number of daily infections reached four digits.
“Sultan Abdullah has called on the rakyat to pray for the frontliners so that they will always be protected and will succeed in the battle against Covid-19.”
