
PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has detected nine new Covid-19 clusters in the past 24 hours, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.
In a statement, he said six of them were workplace clusters, two were community clusters and the remaining one involved a high-risk group.
Three clusters were detected in Johor, two were from Kuala Lumpur, while Selangor, Penang, Pahang and Kedah detected one cluster each.
The nine new clusters are:
Johor:
- Jalan Nusa Mega – a workplace cluster in Johor Bahru. The index case tested positive on March 4 through a screening of symptomatic individuals. The cluster involves workers at a factory along Jalan Mega 1, Taman Perindustrian Nusa Cemerlang. A total of 182 people were screened, with 36 found positive.
- Jalan Setia Jaya – a community cluster in Batu Pahat. The index case tested positive yesterday through a screening of symptomatic individuals. The cluster involves a gathering at Jalan Setia Jaya Utama, Batu Pahat. So far, 56 individuals were screened, with 28 testing positive.
- Jalan Industri A1 – A workplace cluster in Tangkak. Four cases were detected on March 5 through a screening before leaving the country. The cluster involves a factory nearby Jalan Industri A1, Muar. A total of 31 people have been screened, with 21 found positive.
Kuala Lumpur:
- Jalan U-Thant construction site – a workplace cluster in Titiwangsa. Positive cases were reported today after a targeted screening of construction workers on the site at Jalan U-Thant. A total of 158 people were screened, with 35 found positive.
- Jalan Salak construction site – a workplace cluster in Lembah Pantai. Positive cases were reported yesterday after a targeted screening of construction workers on the site at Jalan Salak Selatan. Some 29 people were screened, and 16 were found positive.
Selangor:
- Lorong Kilang – a workplace cluster involving Petaling and Klang. Positive cases were reported on Feb 6 after a targeted screening of workers at a factory along Lorong Kilang, Petaling Jaya. So far, 419 people have been screened, with 41 testing positive.
Penang:
- Medan Bayan Lepas – a workplace cluster involving Barat Daya, Timur Laut, Seberang Perai Utara, Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Selatan. Positive cases were reported on Feb 26 after a targeted screening of workers at a factory along Medan Bayan Lepas, Zon Perindustrian Bebas Bayan Lepas, Barat Daya. Some 428 people were screened, with 65 found positive.
Kedah:
- Amanjaya – a cluster involving a high-risk group from Kuala Muda, Pendang and Yan. The index case tested positive on Feb 26 through a screening of symptomatic individuals. The cluster involves a medical centre in Bandar Aman Jaya, Sungai Petani. A total of 61 people were screened, with 16 testing positive.
Pahang:
- Sungai Lembing – a community cluster in Kuantan. The index case tested positive on March 3 through a screening of symptomatic individuals. The name of the cluster refers to Sungai Lembing, Kuantan, where most of the cases were recorded. Some 135 individuals have been screened, with 13 found positive.
