EMCO extended in 2 localities in Bintulu, Sarawak

The EMCO has been extended for another week.

Senior minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob says the two localities still had active cases.
PETALING JAYA:
The enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at Rumah Sewa Anong and Rumah Sewa Beverly Hills, Bintulu, Sarawak, has been extended by another week from March 19 to 25.

The EMCO was scheduled to end tomorrow.

In a statement, senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said this was because there were still active cases in the two localities.

Ismail added that a total of 1,407 people were screened with 85 testing positive.

On the daily offences, he said police arrested 125 people yesterday over MCO-related offences.

Of that number, 111 were slapped with compound fines while 14 were remanded.

Ismail said among the offences were failure to wear a face mask, crossing districts or states without permission and failing to provide materials for contact tracing or registration.

He added that police arrested 24 illegal immigrants and seized one boat under Op Benteng.
