Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 1,083 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 320,925.
In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 336,808.
There are 14,637 active cases, with 161 patients being treated in intensive care and 73 requiring respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the two deaths take the number of fatalities to 1,246.
Selangor recorded the highest number of infections with 490. This was followed by Sarawak (141), Johor (135), Penang (99), Negeri Sembilan (59), Kuala Lumpur (53), Melaka (52), Kelantan (49), Kedah (49), Sabah (45), Pahang (43), Perak (42), Putrajaya (six) Terengganu (four) and Labuan (one).
Perlis did not record any cases today.
The new cases today involved 1,263 local infections and five imported cases. Local cases comprised 946 Malaysians and 317 foreigners.
There were 41 cases from prisons and immigration detention centres today. There were 27 cases at the Jalan Harapan prison, seven at Tembok Tapah, three at both Semuja Immigration Depot and DTI Sepang 2, and one at Tembok Pengkalan Chepa.
Both deaths today involved men from Selangor, aged 43 and 77, both of whom had existing medical conditions.
