
This follows a rise in the number of Covid-19 cases in the areas.
In a statement today, senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said two localities in Sandakan – Flat Sim-Sim, Mukim Berhala and Kampung Sungai Obar, Batu 7, Mukim Sentosa, will be under EMCO after 17 and 10 positive cases were recorded respectively.
Further, Taman Villa Mas in the Tawau district will be under EMCO after seven out of 42 Covid-19 tests among residents in the area returned positive.
Kampung Melangkap Tomis in the Kota Belud district will also be under EMCO after four positive cases among residents were recorded.
Meanwhile, in Pahang, four villages in the Temerloh district will be under EMCO after 16 positive cases were recorded from 234 screening tests.
The villages are Kampung Paya Pulai Tengah, Kampung Pulau Terap, Kampung Batu 4, and Kampung Batu 5.
Ismail also announced extensions to the EMCO at four localities in Tawau, Sabah. The localities are Kampung Ranggu Batu 10, Kampung Baru Pasir Putih, Taman Semarak (Phase 2) and Kampung Simpang 3A.
The EMCO in these localities are extended until April 28, except for Kampung Simpang 3A, which is scheduled to end on April 29.
Further, EMCO’s at the YTY factory and workers’ hostel in Sitiawan, Perak as well as Kampung Rimbayan, Keningau, Sabah will end today as scheduled.
Ismail said a total of 73 people were arrested yesterday for flouting the MCO, 64 of whom were issued a compound, while nine were remanded.
Among the offences committed includes failing to register prior to entering a premise, failing to observe social distancing and wearing a face mask.
The authorities also detained five undocumented migrants yesterday as part of the ongoing Op Benteng campaign.
They also confiscated three vehicles.
Regarding the mandatory home quarantine, Ismail said 172,587 people who arrived through KLIA were screened for Covid-19 from July 24 to April 12 and were placed under quarantine.
Some 1,369 tested positive and were sent to hospital for treatment, while 163,085 have been allowed to return home.
Some 8,133 people are undergoing mandatory quarantine.
