Record high 25 new Covid-19 clusters, mostly in workplaces

The previous high was 24 clusters on May 20.

The clusters were detected in Selangor, Sarawak, Johor, Kedah, Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Penang, Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan, Perak and Sabah.

The health ministry has detected a record high 25 new Covid-19 clusters in the past 24 hours, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.

The previous high was 24 clusters on May 20.

In a statement, he said 14 of them were workplace clusters, nine were community clusters and the remaining two involved an education institution and high-risk group, respectively.

The clusters were detected in Selangor, Sarawak, Johor, Kedah, Kuala Lumpur, Melaka, Penang, Pahang, Terengganu, Kelantan, Perak and Sabah.

Kedah

  • Dah PKNK 3/8: a workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Kuala Muda. The index case was detected on May 23. 280 screened, 48 positive.
  • Dah Bagan: a community cluster linked to visits during the festive season. It involves Padang Terap and Pendang. The index case was detected on May 20. 175 screened, 41 positive.
  • Dah Batu Dua: an educational institution cluster linked to a celebration in student dorms. It involves Kota Setar. The index case was detected on May 26. 42 screened, 19 positive

Sabah

  • Milenium: a community cluster. It involves Tawau. The index case was detected on May 23. 101 screened, 34 positive.

Sarawak

  • Jalan Coastal Bintulu-Miri: a workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Bintulu. The index case was detected on May 27. 1,574 screened, 49 positive.
  • Jalan Jambusan-Sunchar: a community cluster linked to visits during the festive season. The index case was detected on May 27. 243 screened 18 positive.
  • Muara Tabuan: a workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Kuching, Samarahan, Serian and Asajaya. 500 screened, 152 positive.

Perak

  • Kampung Sungai Kerang: a community cluster linked to a funeral. It involves Manjung and Perak Tengah. The index case was detected on May 27. 142 screened, 21 positive.
  • Kampung Laneh: a community cluster linked to a funeral. It involves Kuala Kangsar and Kinta. The index case was detected on May 26. 70 screened, 23 positive.

Kuala Lumpur

  • Perindustrian Trisegi: a workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Lembah Pantai. 52 screened, 19 positive.
  • Persiaran Titiwangsa: a cluster linked to a high-risk group at an orphanage. It involves Titiwangsa and Kepong. The index case was detected on May 31. 67 screened, 13 positive.
  • Jalan Pantai Permai: a community cluster. It involves Lembah Pantai. 506 screened, 22 positive.

Penang

  • Industri Bukit Minyak Tujuh: a workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Seberang Perai Tengah and Seberang Perai Selatan. 376 screened, 15 positive.
  • Lintang Bayan Lepas Enam: workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Barat Daya, Timur Laut and Seberang Perai Tengah. The index case was detected on May 22. 107 screened, 25 positive.

Johor

  • Jalan Mahsuri Kluang: workplace cluster linked to two factories. It involves Kluang. The index case was detected on May 21. 1,019 screened, 52 positive.
  • Jalan Sierra Perdana Empat: workplace cluster linked to a service company. It involves Johor Bahru. The index case was detected on May 28. 42 screened, seven positive.

Kelantan

  • Kampung Gelong Badak: community cluster linked to Kampung Gelong Badak, Bachok where cases were reported. It involves Bachok and Kota Bharu. The index case was detected on May 20. 32 screened, 18 positive.
  • Tok Jawa: community cluster linked to Kampung Tok Jawa, Bachok where cases were reported. It involves Bachok. The index case was detected on May 26. 42 screened, 10 positive.

Pahang

  • Jalan Sudirman: workplace cluster linked to a service company. It involves Temerloh. The index case was detected on May 23. 61 screened, 18 tested positive.
  • Industri Jalan Karak: workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Bentong. The index case was detected on May 30. 560 screened, 37 positive.
  • Industri Indera Mahkota 14: workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Kuantan. The index case was detected on May 27. 123 screened, 28 positive.

Melaka

  • Klebang Construction Site: workplace cluster linked to a construction site. It involves Melaka Tengah. 371 screened, 123 positive.

Selangor

  • Jalan Alam Jaya: workplace cluster linked to a factory. It involves Hulu Langat. 37 screened, 35 positive.
  • Jalan Perusahaan Dua Lima: workplace cluster linked to two factories. It involves Hulu Langat, Gombak and Petaling. 34 screened, 29 positive.

Terengganu

  • Langgar Hilir: community cluster. It involves Hulu Terengganu and Marang. The index case was detected on May 18. 233 screened, 32 positive.
