Tajuddin fined RM1,500 for flouting SOP

Police say he was fined for not wearing a face mask under his face shield during the press conference on the LRT accident on May 25.

PETALING JAYA:
Pasir Salak MP Tajuddin Abdul Rahman has been fined RM1,500 for breaching Covid-19 SOPs during a press conference on the LRT accident two weeks ago.

Dang Wangi police chief Mohamad Zainal Abdullah said the former Prasarana chairman had breached the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act 1988, or Act 342, by failing to wear a face mask despite wearing a face shield.

Tajuddin had been criticised by various quarters over his press conference, some over his failure to wear a face mask and others over his insensitive and rude remarks.

An online petition calling for the Umno man’s resignation gathered traction as netizens described his press conference as a public relations disaster.

During the press conference, he had told the media not to “provoke” him or “sensationalise” things when queried on certain issues.

On May 26, the government sacked Tajuddin from his post as Prasarana chairman.
