
In a statement, senior minister for security Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the decision follows the high daily Covid-19 case numbers, which is still exceeding the 5,000 mark.
Ismail said the “positive/negative” essential economic sector list and SOPs for manufacturing, businesses and industries will remain the same.
Meanwhile, on the status of areas under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO), he said the Universiti Utara Malaysia campus in Sintok, Kedah will go under lockdown from June 13 until June 26.
Four other localities in Sabah – Kampung Kadazan in Tawau, Kampung Lobou 1 and Kampung Bukit Permai in Kota Kinabalu, and also Taman Villa Felca Nambazan in Penampang – will also go under EMCO from June 13 until June 26.
On the other areas, Ismail said the EMCO in 19 of the 21 subdistricts in Kuala Terengganu will cease at 11.59pm tomorrow. The EMCO at the Bukit Besar and Serada subdistricts, will be extended until June 26.
A total of 461 Covid-19 cases were reported in all 21 subdistricts so far. Ismail said all subdistricts except Bukit Besara and Serada reported a decreasing trend in new cases.
Meanwhile, the EMCO at the Taman Pertama, Taman Serendah and Taman Prima residential areas in Sabak Bernam, Selangor will also end tomorrow.
In Mukah, Sarawak, the lockdown at Rumah Panjang Rimong anak Kilat, Rumah Panjang Asin anak Aji and Rumah Panjang Bija anak Unggang in Ulu Sungai Sebakong, and also Rumah Panjang Undum anak Anchih in Sungai Duan will be lifted tomorrow as well.
Aside from that, the EMCO at Taman Sinar Harapan in Johor Bahru, Kampung Pasir Putih Blok B, People’s Housing Project (PPR) Taman Sri Balung, and Kampung Baru Pasir Putih in Tawau will also end tomorrow.
On the arrests yesterday, Ismail said police arrested 828 individuals, of whom 759 were fined, 68 remanded and one was given bail.
Among the offences were not wearing face masks (162), failure to record personal details or check in with MySejahtera (150), crossing district and state borders without police permission/dining in (134), flouting physical-distancing rules (103), not complying with MCO regulations (86), going beyond the car passenger limit (85), premises flouting SOPs (10), and others (98).
