Residential localities in five states and glove factories in Perak will go under the enhanced movement control order for two weeks from Friday.

Several areas in five states will be placed under an enhanced movement control order (EMCO) from Aug 6-19, senior minister for security Hishammuddin Hussein said today.

In Perak, the five localities affected are Kg Menteri Kuala Sepetang, Larut Matang Selama district; the Comfort Rubber Glove factories in Matang and Simpang; the Comfort Rubber Glove factory workers’ quarters at Hujung Matang; and Kampung Belum Baru in Hulu Perak.

Sabah too has five localities affected. They are namely, Kampung Tanjung Aru Lama and Universiti Apartment 1 in Kota Kinabalu; Kampung Kasnuri and Mostyn farm quarters in Kunak; and Kampung Kuala Mengalong in Sipitang.

Other affected areas include Gugusan Semarak, PJU 5 in Kota Damansara (Selangor), Taman Puteri, Kluang (Johor), and Taman Sri Kebakat, Tumpat (Kelantan).

Meanwhile, the EMCO at three localities in Sabah is set to end tomorrow.

Apart from the One Borneo condominium in Kota Kinabalu, the EMCO at Kampung Istimewa and Taman Merpati in Sandakan will also conclude tomorrow.

The EMCO at Felda Jengka 12, Jerantut (Pahang) and Bandar Pulai Jaya in Kinta (Perak) will also end tomorrow.

Meanwhile, the SOP compliance task force ordered 14 premises to close yesterday after failing to comply with SOPs.

Hishammuddin also said 273 people were arrested yesterday over MCO-related offences, with 248 issued compound fines and 25 remanded.

The authorities also detained 10 undocumented migrants and seized three vehicles as part of the ongoing Op Benteng campaign.

On mandatory quarantine, Hishammuddin said 262,857 people who arrived through KLIA were screened for Covid-19 from July 24 last year to Aug 3 this year and were placed under quarantine.

A total of 3,774 tested positive and were sent to hospital for treatment, while 249,485 have been allowed to return home.

Some 9,598 are currently undergoing mandatory quarantine.
