EMCOs announced for nine localities in Sabah

The enhanced restrictions will be enforced for at least two weeks from Aug 15-28.

Four areas in Sabah will see their earlier EMCOs extended.

Nine areas in Sabah and one location in Pahang will come under the enhanced movement control order (EMCO) for two weeks from Aug 15.

In a statement, senior minister for security Hishammuddin Hussein announced EMCOs in three localities in Kota Kinabalu, namely Kampung Pulutan and Kg Mansiang in Menggatal and the Hyatt Centric construction site.

In Beaufort, both Kg Brunei, Membakut and the workers’ accommodation for a Prima home construction site in Lumat will also be placed under enhanced restrictions.

Elsewhere in Sabah, Kg Rancangan Kalabakan in Kalabakan, Kampung Mangaris 2 in Kota Marudu, Kampung Contoh in Putatan and Lorong Mat Salleh Bt.2, Jalan Apas in Tawau will also be placed under an EMCO from Sunday.

In Pahang, Jalan Blue Valley-Lojing in Cameron Highlands will also see an EMCO imposed.

Four areas in Sabah will see their earlier EMCOs extended, namely Kampung Siansai Dundau and Kampung Tempasuk 1 in Kota Belud, Projek Perumahan Rakyat Sri Semarak in Tawau and Kampung Sembulan Tengah & Lama in Kota Kinabalu. Tightened restrictions will be in force until Aug 28.

Hishammuddin also announced the ending of the EMCO at several localities, mostly in Sabah, from tomorrow.

There are in Tawau (Bandar Sabindo, Kampung Rancangan Sungai Tongkang, Taman Kukusan, Batu 2 Lorong Habib Abdul Rahman, Jalan Apas and Taman Berjaya), Keningau (Kampung Bariawa Laut, Kampung Baitah, Kampung Panagatan Ulu, Kampung Kota Ayangan and Rumah Kongsi Jutaya Lingkudau), Kudat (Kampung Seri Aman, Taman Orkid and Kampung Damaran Banggi) and Sandakan (Kampung Lupak Meluas Darat, Kampung Sundang Laut and Flat Taman Sejati).

Taman Sempelang in Kota Kinabalu, Kampung Tengah Padang in Putatan and Kampung Babagon in Penampang are the remaining areas in Sabah where EMCOs will be lifted.

In Pahang, Kampung Tanjung Kerayong, Mentakab in Temerloh and Pos Iskandar in Bera will also have their EMCOs ended.

Hishammuddin also said the SOP compliance task force ordered 48 premises, comprising businesses, factories and construction sites to close yesterday for failing to comply with SOPs.

He also said 224 people were arrested yesterday over MCO-related offences, 208 of whom were issued compounds and 16 remanded.
