Wangsa Maju district police chief Ashari Abu Samah said the request was made on Aug 16 to have their statements taken online following a police report lodged against them by celebrity preacher Ebit Irawan Ibrahim Lew or Ebit Lew last month.

Ashari said police had also tried to contact the duo through email and social media platforms, but to no avail.

“Efforts are also being made to reach Caprice on the contact number uploaded by him on his Instagram account and we hope that he will give his full cooperation,” he said.

On July 21, Ebit lodged a police report on various allegations levelled against him by several individuals on social media.

The case is being investigated under Sections 500 and 504 of the Penal Code and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Ebit was questioned yesterday by Bukit Aman to assist with an investigation into sexual harassment claims.

Police said the preacher’s statement was taken at the federal police headquarters yesterday in its investigations under Section 509 of the Penal Code, Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

Police also searched his house.

Earlier, a video had gone viral on social media showing a man resembling the preacher.

Ebit has said that the allegations against him are slanderous and cruel.
