
In a Twitter post, the health ministry said the total number of infections now stands at 1,535,286.
It said there were 18,576 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 1,260,470.
There are 260,880 active cases with 1,035 patients being treated in intensive care and 513 requiring respiratory assistance.
Meanwhile, the 223 deaths take the number of fatalities to 13,936.
There were 22,222 local infections today, as well as 40 imported cases.
Selangor recorded the highest number of cases with 7,011.
Sabah had 2,651 cases today, followed by Sarawak (1,964), Kedah (1,880), Johor (1,558), Penang (1,459), Kuala Lumpur (1,220), Kelantan (1,039), Perak (946), Melaka (882), Pahang (664), Terengganu (495), Negeri Sembilan (405), Putrajaya (41), Perlis (38) and Labuan (9).
The 223 who died comprised 199 Malaysians and 24 foreigners. A total of 171 had existing medical conditions, while 35 were brought in dead.
Selangor reported the highest number of fatalities with 77, followed by Sabah (27), Kedah (23), Penang (20), Kuala Lumpur (18), Melaka (18), Johor (14), Negeri Sembilan (11), Perak (7), Pahang (5), Sarawak (2) and Putrajaya (1).
Noor Hisham also said that as of yesterday, the country’s Covid-19 infectivity rate stood at 1.04.
Perlis recorded the highest R-nought level with 1.38, followed by Sarawak (1.31), Sabah (1.23), Penang (1.16), Kelantan (1.14), Perak (1.11), Kedah (1.1), Johor (1.06), Pahang (1.06), Melaka (1.05), Terengganu (1.05), Selangor (0.98), Kuala Lumpur (0.95), Negeri Sembilan (0.92), Putrajaya (0.89) and Labuan (0).
About 98% of today’s cases are Category 1 and 2, while 83% of the overall cases involved people who either have not been vaccinated or have not been fully vaccinated.
